Section Piercing Cradle

Section piercing cradle is made in the UK using MDF or similar wood and is an excellent way to pierce self aligned measurements where the holes are required before sewing.
This should be called a “hand made spine piercing before sewing frame” but for ease we call this a section piercing cradle, which comes flat packed and easily slots together in seconds. Sections are held down against the stop end at 90 degrees square with a thin board marked along the bottom edge with the position for sewing. The correct size slot at the base of the cradle is maintained by a strong canvas strip. Holes are pierced against this through the centre of the fold.
Note* that when piercing sections the holes must never be larger than the needle in position when sewing. To enlarge a hole when sewing will allow glue to penetrate through the sections.  A piercing tool can be made by using a bookbinders needle fitted in a holder. If required the cradle can be glued together with the four strips of wood supplied to make a permanent structure.

Section piercing cradle is made in the UK using MDF or similar wood and is an excellent way to pierce self aligned measurements where the holes are required before sewing.
Holes can be pierced in the required measured dimensions along the folded creased edge by using a no.15/18 bookbinding needle (sold separately.) This lightweight frame measures 6″ tall by 14″ across and will be large enough to prepare most single sections. Comes highly recommended and the strip of cloth can be replaced with our self adhesive Colorado tape.
Comes flat packed ready for transportation and is easy to self assemble.
